Promise

Outbound/Growth Marketer

Full-Time in San Francisco Bay Area, CA - Remote OK

Company overview:

Promise helps utilities and government agencies create flexible and affordable solutions for customers struggling to pay off their debt. Our intuitive approach to payment plans and relief distribution leads to increased customer enrollment and recovery rates that are far higher than the industry standard. As a result, customers pay off debt sooner and with fewer penalties, and our partners reduce delinquencies and increase revenue.

The Promise team strives to treat people who are struggling with dignity and provide them with the tools and resources they need to succeed. Our expertise spans sectors: we are technology experts from companies like Google, Stripe, and Palantir, as well as accomplished government leaders. We have raised over $50 million and we’re backed by leading investors such as Kapor Capital, XYZ Ventures, Bronze Investments, First Round Capital, Y Combinator, The General Partnership (formerly Sweat Equity Ventures), Howard Schultz, and others. We're proud to have recently been chosen as one of Fast Company's "World's Most Innovative Companies of 2022."

Role overview:

We’re looking for an experienced Outbound Marketer to join our growing team. The primary responsibility of this person will be to develop, manage and execute campaigns focused on enrolling our utility partners’ customers with Promise. This individual will need to be both strategic and tactical, using what we already know works, while also experimenting with new outreach methods across SMS, digital ads, social media, outbound call campaigns, and whatever else works. We need someone who is able to quickly recognize what’s working and lean into those techniques. The ideal candidate is analytical, passionate about helping people, and strategic, while not being afraid to get in the weeds of execution. This position pays between $80,000.00 per year and $138,000.00 per year. Final offer amounts depend on multiple factors, including candidate skills, experience, geographic location, and compensation/equity mix.

What you'll do:

  • Work closely with the implementation, tech, customer success, and operations teams on outbound marketing strategies and programs to drive awareness, enrollment, platform adoption, and long-term engagement at the end-user level
  • Deeply understand the end-user, the problems they’re facing, and how our products might appeal to them to drive meaningful adoption and greater engagement: develop customer segmentation strategies in partnership with the client success, data and customer success teams
  • Own and operate the full cycle of outreach to the end-user: from campaign strategy to copywriting to deployment to iteration, and performance analysis
  • Build and manage a dashboard of KPIs: from conversion metrics by channel or customer segment to CAC and beyond
  • Provide reporting on customer acquisition and retention performance by channel, segment, client / jurisdiction – deeply understand what’s working and come up with evidence-based theories about why
  • Build and document best practices and processes to improve operational efficiency

You’re a great fit for the role if you:

  • Are coming from a similar role in B2C performance marketing / growth or a political campaign, with 5-8 total years of experience
  • Are comfortable using email/SMS marketing tools (e.g. Marketo, Mailchimp, NGP VAN) and/or analytics tools (e.g. Amplitude, Looker, Google Analytics
  • Are a team player who loves collaborating cross-functionally
  • Have a growth mindset, with a natural inclination to want to continuously improve
  • Can work quickly, without sacrificing quality
  • Are an excellent communicator, both written and verbal, including an ability to translate learnings into content for slide or written presentations
  • Are an expert multitasker: you can triage in the moment, juggling a number of tasks without losing sight of priorities
  • Thrive on new challenges – we are always changing and you’re up for the ride!
  • Are tech savvy: you’re adept at learning new tools and technologies
  • Are resourceful and an ‘expert learner.’ You’re naturally curious and good at figuring new things out
  • Have a strong work ethic and are self-directed: you don’t need to be told what to do next
  • Are excited about our mission: you want to prove that moving away from punitive approaches to non-payment and treating people with dignity can be a win for everyone
